NEW WORK ! :

I am excited to share some new work!

These paintings capture
my abstract botanical style.

I loved working
with the hues of citron and amber,
and always my favorites: sage & olive green.
Then I explored the vivid jewel tones as well!

They are currently for sale and on display
from Nov. - Dec.
in downtown Willow Glen
at the Top Nosh Cafe.

This painting sold to a very dear friend of mine!

The Painted Chair Project : "Time to Bloom"

I'm excited to share that I've been working on a fun project
with two wonderful organizations:
called
"The Painted Chairs Project".
Each of the 1930's wooden folding chairs,
from the Woman's Club, are actually party of their history.
I took some photos before I painted mine, it had so much
character and was still functional.

What a great way to help support and raise community awareness!
I was so excited to be one of 60 local artists chosen to receive a chair!
Now the hard part was to decide what to do with it....
I decided to do a twist on my aesthetic:
floral designs in a bold pastel palette.
As you can see in the lower photo,
I like to draw inspiration from my sketchbook.

On the back panel, I did stay true to my style.
This is one of my latest botanical line designs.

Here is my chair, "Time to Bloom" all finished:

The Painted Chair Auction Fundraiser Event
will be held
Saturday, March 29th from 6-9pm
The Woman's Club of Palo Alto
475 Homer Avenue, Palo Alto, CA
Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door

In the meantime all the chairs will be displayed
in local businesses throughout Palo Alto.

All the artist's chairs look amazing.
It's going to be a fun evening seeing all the ideas
that each of the artists created.
I know they all worked hard on them!

My chair is displayed in downtown Palo Alto

Art Studio :

January 2013 has come and gone, but Happy New Year to you all anyways! :)

My Planner Cover that I made
Every year I make plans and goals to strive for, like many of us.
One special resolution is to grow my business as an artist even more,
so I've been busy in my studio working on several paintings.

Here's a little peek into my art studio, or my office space these days!
Like many artists, our studio is a personal expression of us.
It's my special niche where I can be the creative soul that I am!

Well back to work!

Mini Works of Art :

So my studio - in the garage - is mighty warm in the summer, here in California.
So back to the kitchen table I am painting.
The space is confining, but perfect for my mini-works.

I love creating small collections or coordinating series of paintings.
When I create three matching pieces, they are sold as "triptychs".
These mini-works are 12x12 or smaller.

The photo above shows a Botanical Series in the process.
I choose the warm golden hues I love so much!

These pieces will be for sale at Grace on the Avenue,
on July 19th, for the "Ladies Night Out" in Willow Glen.

Hope you are staying cool this summer!

Yvette

It's time to share some more of my new work!
This is a sample of what I've completed recently:

24x20 Peony Bright Sienna
20x24 Organic Structures Russet

And...here is a peak of a new one in the works
from my studio:
My process can vary, but this time I choose to
draw my sketch onto the canvas first.

Well off to University Art,
need to buy more art supplies!

Open Studios - Nov. 2011

My first Open Studios at The Alameda Artworks
was a great experience.

Thanks to all my family and friends that were able to attend.
I also met some wonderful people who visited
and purchased my art over the weekend.
It is so enriching and satisfying to hear
positive feedback on my work...it keeps me going. :)
This was a chance for me to get to know the other artists better,
and see their artwork as well.  There is such a huge variety of styles and awesome talent in those studios.  I'm so grateful to be a part of this.

A special thanks goes to my husband who worked so hard installing the wood molding on my gallery walls.  Don't they look great?!

Yvette
